The Underwood Animal Clinic has been serving Licking County since 1982. Dr. Underwood has provided this community with exceptional veterinary care, for both small companion animals and exotic pets, for over 30 years. In August of 2024, Dr. K. Lyle Simpson II took over the practice, hoping to carry on Dr. Underwood's legacy. Dr. Simpson has worked tirelessly to expand the Alexandria facility to be able to grow with the thriving community, and he is proud to now be able to do the same for the Heath location as well. We now have two additional small-animal veterinarians practicing alongside Dr. Michelle Gilbert, as well as a full staff of caring, dedicated employees.

Dr. Kenneth Lyle Simpson II earned his DVM from The Ohio State University in 2017. He is USDA certified and has extensive experience in veterinary medicine....
He enjoys camping with his family in their RV, traveling to new places and visiting many national parks. He loves riding ATVs in the mountains and spending quality time with his family, making lasting memories. He and his wife, Shelby, were married in September of 2023 and have 5 children. Dr. Simpson is a car enthusiast and enjoys maintaining his many vehicles. He has a Chihuahua mix, Kapono, and a cat, Cruella. CURRENTLY SEEING WELLNESS AND SICK VISITS, AND SURGERIES, ON MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, THURSDAYS AND FRIDAYS Mrs. Shelby Simpson is certified veterinary assistant with over 10 years of experience in veterinary care. She and Dr. Simpson were married in September of 2023 and have 5 children. Shelby loves coffee and traveling with her family to new places. She enjoys camping and riding ATVs in the mountains. She also loves the beach and is very focused on her family life and being a mom. She and Dr. Simpson have a Chihuahua mix, Kapono, and a cat, Cruella. Their dream is to live on a large ranch with lots of mini goats, ponies and other animals. Shelby assists Dr. Simpsons with routine and sick appointments, as well as routine surgeries, 4 days a week.
